Rainbow cake with marzipan figures
Coloured sponge layers under a smooth cream coating, topped with hand-shaped marzipan figures. Our biggest hit for children’s parties.
We make custom celebration and children’s cakes to order, bake daily pastries for the display, and in summer make artisan ice cream too. Open every day.

When a specific image has to be reproduced – a favourite character, a photo, a drawing – an edible print is the most accurate solution.
A green piped-grass top, chocolate drip, marzipan machines and a name on the side. The classic boys’ party cake.
Pastel layers, a marzipan rainbow and lamb, with the child’s name. A gentler, photogenic option for a first birthday.
Chocolate dripping over the rim, with cream roses, chocolate shards and golden spheres on top. A more elegant, grown-up option.
A light cream layer on a sponge base, topped with fruit jelly, whole blueberries and raspberries. One of the most popular items in the display.
Character cakes and rainbow layer cakes are the most requested here. Understated outside, colourful inside – and the children’s reaction does not come when the cake is carried in but when it is cut.
With an edible print we can reproduce a specific character or photo, and with marzipan figures we can make decorations that can be kept as a keepsake after the party.
The most common question we get – and the most common reason we have to say no. Here is how much time each kind of cake needs.
A children’s cake does not start with the decoration but with a few questions. We walk through a real order, from the conversation to collection.
Raspberry and cherry in summer, plum in autumn, chocolate and chestnut in winter. Not on a whim – out-of-season fruit shows in the pastry.
Tell us what you need and we will call you. The cake enquiry form is not yet an order – only a first step.
Making one-off cakes. Not a batch, but the single cake somebody imagined – and which then turns out to be possible. We have made a digger cake for a three-year-old, a rainbow layer cake with marzipan cats, a butterfly cake with an edible print, and an eighteenth birthday cake covered in chocolate bars. Every one of them existed only once.
This is the harder way to work. A cake made by the dozen is predictable; a custom design is not. It has to be discussed and sketched, we have to work out whether the marzipan figure will stay upright on the cream, and the date cannot slip, because a birthday will not wait. But this is exactly what turns a cake into a memory.
On weekdays we open at a quarter past seven. At that hour it is just the coffee machine and the display filling up: cream slices, choux buns, puff pastry slices, fruit cream cakes. We are also here for the person who stops by on the way to work for a coffee and something sweet, not only for the big occasions.
We are open every day of the week. From eight on Saturdays and Sundays, because most people take the weekend cake home once the family has gathered.
The word szalon is in our name for a reason. There is somewhere to sit: a bright room, wooden tables, a lot of plants, a flower arch at the door. Our chalkboard says “If you enter here, give up your diet!” – we did not invent that for ourselves, our guests keep quoting it back to us.
In summer it is worth coming in for the artisan ice cream too. In a cone, in a cup, or alongside a slice of cake.
A custom cake needs time, not speed. There is a form on this site where you can tell us when you need the cake, for how many people, for what occasion and what you would like to see on it. That is not yet an order, only the first step: we then call you and go through the details – flavours, size, lettering, allergies.
We work this way because a cake is not a webshop product. “Rainbow, with cats, with a name piped on it, for twelve people” can still mean many different cakes, and it is better to settle that on the phone than to discover the misunderstanding afterwards.
We mix our own creams and bake our own sponge. The fruit is seasonal, so the selection changes – what is in the display in July is not what is there in January. And we always ask about allergies before taking on an order, because at a children’s party that is not a minor detail.
